In the NY Times article (does it make any difference that they call it a blog?) relating the release date for the iPad, they've simply published a 'photo' of the Apple website announcing the iPad release date, including the could only come from the mouth of Apple line "a magical and revolutionary product at an unbelievable price". No, this isn't an add..it's the article! Here it is, in black and white with a bit of tasteful color: the most brilliant and illustrative example of Apple's overwhelming marketing genius yet.. In fact, I'm not sure of how this could be surpassed; they're already basically printing the Apple press releases, so the next step is simply to have Apple marketing folks replace the editorial staff for all of the techie news. But hmm.., then they'd have to pay their salaries. No, its probably about perfect the way it is. And yes, I know that by including this in my blog, I've made my own very small contribution to Apple's mind-share hegemony. How about it Apple, why don't you send me a free one for my efforts? I'm not even making a pretense at objectivity.Saturday, March 6, 2010
